Cristóbal Schmal creates picturesque stories that appear unforced, funny and somewhat strange at the same time.
Cristóbal Schmal is a Chilean illustrator who currently lives in Berlin. After finishing his studies in graphic design at Valparaiso University in Chile in 2001, Cristóbal moved to Barcelona and worked as a designer and art director across various graphic design studios and advertising agencies. In 2008, he decided to move to Berlin where he has been working as freelance illustrator since. His works switch between book illustrations, cover art, editing and advertising. As part of his artistic ambition he occasionally experiments with music as well.
